The facts

Narristotle is the editorial persona and storytelling methodology of AI Global Entertainment, a company co-founded by Matt Allen and Steve Smythe.

Matt Allen is the person behind the storytelling methodology: the four pillars on The Method page — story structure, character transformation, setups & payoffs, and dramatic cause & effect — are his framework for building stories that hold together. Steve Smythe leads the technology and product development that turned that framework into working tools.

Their product is RoughDraft Maker, where writers bring an idea, messy notes, or a dictated version of their story and shape it into a working rough draft. Narristotle.com is the editorial home of the same thinking: the Gazette’s essays, the Bookshelf’s study notes, and the Method, published so any writer can use them — tool or no tool.

The character

Narristotle himself — the marble bust, the tortoiseshell glasses, the claim to have been born in 335 BCE and recompiled in California — is a character. He is a playful fiction wrapped around a real methodology, and his voice (sharp, funny, secretly on the writer’s side) is how this site prefers to teach. He is not a real person, a historical figure, or a corporate officer, and nothing on this site should be read as claiming otherwise. The lore is the seasoning. The method, the essays, and the company are real.

Editorial approach

The Gazette publishes twice a week: a practical storytelling dispatch on Tuesdays and a contrarian essay, story breakdown, or Bookshelf feature on Fridays. Every piece is held to a few simple rules:

• Useful before clever — every article ends with something the reader can apply that day.
• Snark is aimed at bad writing advice, never at struggling writers.
• No invented quotations, credentials, or claims. Examples written for an article are labeled as demonstrations.
• Books on the Bookshelf are recommendations and are labeled as such; books created with our tools will only be featured when they are real, with their authors’ permission.
